ABOUT US
Kim Cassar, Founding member of the Lung Transplant Open (LTO) together with the volunteer members of the Toronto Lung Transplant Civitan Club (TLTCC) are excited to continue this annual event.
An event like this is a shining example of how Donors, Lung Transplant patients (pre/post) and families can come together to support such a worthy cause of giving back for the gift of a second chance at life.
A bit of background about the LTO charity event. It was founded in 2004 by Kim Cassar, Merv Sheppard (passed) and Pete Laurence (passed) with the purpose of raising funds to support the world class Lung Transplant Research program at Toronto General Hospital.
The Toronto Lung Transplant Civitan Club was founded in 1999 by a group of lung transplant patients and caregivers to give back for their gift of life by helping those patients qualified by TGH Social workers, through their transplant journey.
Our vision is for Canada to be a forerunner in organ and tissue donation and transplantation – saving lives, improving quality of life and providing much needed care and support.
All proceeds raised through fund raising efforts are used to support the patients offset their living expenses during their stay in Toronto as well as the TGH Lung Transplant Research program.
The LTO Golf Tournament is also a life saving awareness event aimed at emphasizing to the general public the plight of people with organ failure and the ongoing need for organ donation for transplantation, encouraging more people to make an informed decision to give consent to being an organ donor.
